In the afternoon we pay a visit to count Dracula at Bran Castle. This is the castle where Bram Stocker imagined his well known story “Dracula” In fact the castle has very little to do with the real Prince Dracula, but that doesn’t disappoint it’s visitors, since the castle is one of the most beautiful castles in Romania.

Day 3

Discover the spectacular limestone gorges in Piatra Craiului National Park. Today we will mountain bike through the southern part of the park. We start wit a long descent from the highest village called Fundata  through the Cheia Valley down to a “caldera” where 4 gorges meet.

From this point we will head up on the most spectacular of them – Dambovicioara gorges. We continue uphill on a steep road for about 3 km then rolling hills and superb scenery all the way back to the starting point.

Return to Bran for the night

Day 4

Plunge deep into the wild Piatra Craiului National Park.

We will bike up through a tight and spectacular lime stone valley gorge. This used to be a cave who’s ceiling collapsed millions of years ago forming this dramatic canyon.

At the other end of the gorge we get into the woods for a about 5 kilometres to the top of the mountain. A beautiful gradual descent through pasture land and pine forests back to the starting point.

Day 5

Today is relaxing time. We will visit the medieval city of Brasov. This was the most important trade center of medieval Transylvania. Enjoy a guided walk through this 13th century Saxon city. The main highlight is the Council Square, the Gothic Black Church – blackened by a fire more than 300 year ago – and the “Rope Street” – one of the narrowest streets in Europe.

After lunch we check out Rasnov Fortress, This impressive fortification you just can’t miss was built in the 13 Th century by the Teutonic Knights. Later the fortress was enlarged by the villagers and it became a small walled city protecting the villagers from the invaders.

Return to Bran for the evening.

Day 6

Today we will explore Magura. This is a little village with small wood houses spread out on several mountains and valleys with picture postcard views around every corner.

The ride is 37 Km long and the total climb is 400 metres
